How to review your design as a UX designer

Even the most experienced designers need to review their work at different stages of the design process. This can help them to identify areas where they can improve their designs and to ensure that their designs are consistent and functional.

Here is a four-step checklist for reviewing your design as a UX designer:

  1. Detailed view: This is where you should focus on the small details of your design, such as typography, color, and iconography. Make sure that these elements are consistent throughout your designs and that they are appropriate for the overall tone and style of your product.
  2. Page-level view: This is where you should focus on the overall balance and unity of each page of your design. Look for any elements that are out of place or that are not consistent with the rest of the page. You should also consider the scale and proportion of the elements on each page.
  3. Function-level view: This is where you should focus on the functionality of your design. Make sure that you have included all of the necessary navigation elements and that users will be able to perform all of the actions that they need to be able to perform.
  4. App-level view: This is where you should step back and review your design as a whole. Look for any inconsistencies in the overall look and feel of your product. You should also make sure that the overall design is consistent with the product’s goals and objectives.

Here are some additional tips for reviewing your design:

  • Get feedback from others. Ask other designers, developers, and potential users to review your design and give you feedback. This can help you to identify areas where your design can be improved.
  • Use a checklist. A checklist can help you to stay on track and to ensure that you have reviewed all of the important aspects of your design.
  • Iterate on your design. Once you have reviewed your design, make any necessary changes. Then, review your design again to make sure that the changes you have made have improved the overall design.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your designs are well-reviewed and ready for prototyping or development.
